On Monday, the Christmas Tree that will adorn the United States Capitol in Washington D.C., made a stop in Branson, MO! The 85-foot Blue Spruce is currently traveling by truck across the country from Arizona to Washington D.C., and will be delivered to the U.S. Capitol on November 30th. Once the tree reaches Washington, it will be decorated with over 10,000 handmade ornaments and will be lit on December 8th. 2009 marks the second year that the tree has made a stop in Branson, and we hope it continues to be a stop on the route for years to come.
Here in Branson, we celebrated the arrival of the tree in style with special performances from our stars. Yakov Smirnoff served as the host of the event, and performers such as the Haygoods, the cast of the Miracle of Christmas from Sight & Sound Theatre, the Highway 76 Trombones, Doug Gabriel, the cast from the Circle B Supper Show, and New South from the Grand Jubilee performed Christmas favorites for the crowd that gathered for the event. Mother Nature even made a special appearance at the event, and as the cast from Sight & Sound performed, the sun poked through the overcast sky showing off some natural special effects. It truly was an exciting day, and those who came out even got to catch a glimpse at our nation’s Official Christmas Tree!
