Morris Teeing Up More Golf in Branson

Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris has enlisted some of golf’s biggest names as he continues his quest to make Branson one of the country’s top destinations for golf.

World Golf Hall of Fame members Gary Player and Ben Crenshaw (with his golf course architect partner Bill Coore) are working with Morris to develop two new courses that will join Top of the Rock and Buffalo Ridge Springs in Big Cedar Lodge’s stable of incredible golf amenities.

The Gary Player course is slated to open this spring and will appeal to all golfers, particularly those juggling busy lifestyles. Located on the Buffalo Ridge property, the 13-hole par 3 course will require less time to play. Golfers are required to walk – no carts allowed – yet players can still complete a round in less than two hours. Convenient and healthy – ideally aligned with Players’ legendary lifelong dedication to fitness.

Coore and Crenshaw, renowned for course designs worldwide, are masters of minimalism. Coupled with Morris’ Ozarks conservation commitment and passion, their 18-hole championship course collaboration promises to create something spectacularly special. An opening date has not been announced, though the course is projected for a late 2018 season debut.

Full details about the Coore and Crenshaw course are unknown, but the firm’s website states that construction was about 70 percent complete as of January 2017.

These new courses add to Branson’s growing reputation as a top golf destination – there are several other complementary choices throughout the area – and it’s the nation’s fastest growing one.
