Branson, Missouri – August 30, 2012 – The Baldknobbers Jamboree are changing their guest policy for individuals with military service. Effective immediately individuals with either current or prior military service are now termed honored guests and will gain admission to Branson’s first show free of charge.
The policy is a significant commitment that was slow in coming for the family business that has operated for 53 years with a product they defined as “passionate patriotism, unashamedly country and authentic gospel.” It is an unprecedented and significant move, but one that the family felt was not a choice at all. Tim Mabe explained, “We were faced with a specific situation that required us to consider our policies. For years we have given admission to individuals currently serving in the military. We followed the trend of discounting prior military service personnel. After weighing what our business is established on, we determined that we found inconsistency. Recognizing a person’s military service is a sacrifice that deserves our gratitude. That gratitude shouldn’t be less because that service happened prior to coming
to our show.”
“This isn’t so much a policy as a principle for us.” said Geoff Steele, Artist & Promotions Manager for the Baldknobbers. “It has taken months of weighing a policy statement this significant. As the decision was discussed it became clearer and clearer that there was no debate. When a policy is considered in light of
principle and found wanting, this family determines to change policy. Our desire is to create an environment for the entire family, where we can cultivate those principles. One of those principles is gratitude. Anyone who has made the sacrifice of military service, and it is a sacrifice, is an honored guest at the Baldknobbers Jamboree.”
The Baldknobbers Jamboree began the Branson entertainment phenomenon on the lakefront in 1959. They have been synonymous with Branson, from performing opening day of Silver Dollar City, to being recognized and placed on permanent display in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. where they were recognized for their contribution to American culture.
The military guest policy will require a military identification to gain admission, and the policy is subject to availability. The Baldknobbers Jamboree performs nightly, Monday through Saturday at 8PM. For more information call 417.334.4528 or visit online at
