Greater Ozarks British Motoring Club
Rolls Out the Classics For Free, Two-Day Event

The British are coming!  The British are coming!  The Jaguars, MGA’s, MGB’s, Austin Healey’s -- the great, glamorous, fun-cars from the '50s to the present are coming to the Titanic Museum Attraction’s parking lot, announces Titanic owner, John Joslyn. These rare classics will be on public display on Friday, April 10th and Saturday, April 11th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m each day.

“This is a unique opportunity for many people to get their first close-up look at some of the great British motor cars that drove Americans wild following World War II,”  Joslyn says.  “ I’ll never forget my first experience behind the wheel of an MGB back in the '70s, it thrills me just to think about it today.  There’ll be one on our lot and I can’t wait to check her out.”

The Greater Ozarks British Motoring Club (GOBMC) is a group of British car enthusiast from Missouri who will be celebrating their 10th anniversary at the annual GOBMC All British Car and Cycle Blowout on the Square in historic Carthage, Missouri July 24th through the 26th.

This  two-day, free family event is part of the Titanic Museum Attraction’s community commitment -- to inform, enlighten and entertain.

Monks, JEERK, Chicks & Flying Feathers -- Plus Feet of Fire, VeggieTales, Magic, Great American Country & More!

Silver Dollar City presents its biggest show year ever with more than a dozen blue-ribbon production shows, including two never before presented in the United States. "From a show perspective, there isn't a time of year when we are not offering something spectacular," said Brad Schroeder, Director of Special Events. "Silver Dollar City is like a 50-acre performing arts hall, constantly presenting the best shows ¬we can find worldwide, and those we create -- ever changing, always adding."

The Branson, Missouri theme park’s new production shows never before presented in the United States include the Zhejiang Balancing Monks of China for World-Fest and the Swedish Supergroup JEERK for KidsFest, featured shows within two of the six world-class festivals presented April - December.

Opening with World-Fest April 4, The Zhejiang Balancing Monks of China bring to Silver Dollar City an all-new show of incredible acrobatic proportions. An internationally-acclaimed troupe of two dozen acrobats and head-balancing monks demonstrate awe-inspiring mastery of body and mind. This unique show is being created and co-produced by LOVE Productions of New York City and Silver Dollar City.

Rhythm and dance artistry stomps to the stage for KidsFest as Silver Dollar City presents the Swedish Supergroup JEERK. Five spectacular performers use their percussion skills, rhythmic body movements and an array of novelty props to drum, dance and crash their way through this one-of-a-kind stage show, making its U.S. debut at the park June 6.

Major festival productions include the new 28-member Peruvian music and dance troupe Jallmay, the Feet of Fire Irish dance show, an original VeggieTales live stage show, the Magic of Peter Gossamer, the All American Cowgirl Chicks trick riders, Wings Over Missouri birds of flight, the Headin’ West musical drama presenting the adventure of America’s Western expansion, and the acclaimed original production A Dickens’ Christmas Carol. Plus, Great American Country Nights in Echo Hollow, the nation’s only live stage version of the popular television show, presents contemporary country hits with a talented cast of singer/dancers, accompanied by a live band, April – October.

Silver Dollar City’s new Culinary & Craft School offers guests more behind-the-scenes experiences in 2009, presenting culinary techniques with festival flavor such as international specialties during World-Fest, and homemade sauces and side dishes during Bluegrass & BBQ, plus classes on legendary Silver Dollar City home-style cooking. Classes are offered within the 3,000 square-foot timber frame building with its state-of-the-art kitchen showroom and Craftsmen’s Showcase room furnished with the work of the park’s expert craftsmen. Class schedules are available on the website, www.silverdollarcity.com.

Branson’s highly-acclaimed Island Fire extravaganza returns to the Dutton Theater for a third straight year, opening Saturday night March 14th.  Totally restyled for 2009, Island Fire features new dancers, vocalists and fire knife performances.

Working her magic on this year’s ensemble cast is Ramona Schwenke, an internationally famous director of Polynesian shows. She has toured and produced shows throughout the United States including the legendary Drums of Tahiti who performed at Sea World in Florida for 10 years..  She has also judged Tahitian, Hawaiian, Maori and Samoan Dance Competitions and Miss Samoa – Utah.  Ramona is joined by Alvin Schwenke, famed trainer of world champion fire knife dancers, who will be choreographing the breathtaking fire knife routines of World Champion, Malaki!

Island Fire, conceived by Jonathan Dutton’s beautiful Samoan wife Bella, turns the stage of the Dutton Theater into a Polynesian paradise with giant palm trees, beautiful flowers along with misty fog and fiery flames.

According to marketing manager, Judith Dutton, “Last year’s show seems tame compared to the exhilarating and mesmerizing excitement of Island Fire 2009!  Both Sheila and Bella traveled extensively and spent hundreds of hours auditioning performers from around the world to build this superb cast of performers.  Plus, Ramona and Alvin Schwenke have taken Island Fire to a new level – a truly world class event for the audiences.”

Tickets for Island Fire, which include a box meal with a Polynesian flavor, catered by Luigi’s Pizza Kitchen which is opening soon on the complex, are available now.

Calling All Kids! Come Paint a Monster-Sized TITANIC Mural
Free Event Runs every weekend during the month of April from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Titanic Museum Attraction is primed – literally that is, for its first exterior stem-to-stern paint job, announces Titanic co-owner John Joslyn. “We paint the ship’s interior every year. Now, after weathering three years outdoors, it’s time the Grand Dame of Highway 76 got a little touch up, too,” Joslyn says.

Leave it to Titanic Branson to turn a routine maintenance project into a major family event that encourages kids and adults to explore their creative sides. And according to Joslyn, the event’s timing shares a historical connection with the original ship: “The construction of Titanic began 100 years ago on March 31, 1909, in Belfast, Ireland,” says Joslyn, “and took three years to complete.”

Starting April 4, a Titanic Branson crew will begin repainting the ship’s exterior, which should take about four weeks. Meanwhile, families are invited to brush between the lines of a different project – a monster-sized customized 20-foot by 6-foot mural depicting boarding passengers. In fact, the mural is based on the opening scene of the movie TITANIC and features lots of familiar faces. The paint is kid friendly and washes right off. The museum will supply paint and brushes to everyone interested in joining the fun. The event is free and runs the entire month of April.

Mark your calendars because you don't want to miss this Concert!  Straight out of Springfield, MO, this band composed of five cousins is bound together by blood and harmony, both of which make up this great American band. Big Smith has earned a devoted following playing raucous acoustic music that has captured the spirit of their native Ozarks. Equipped only with an acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass fiddle and washboard they continue to demonstrate to unsuspecting audiences that joy and liberation can be found in an unlikely combination including the energy of bluegrass, the sound of gospel harmonies and the raw mojo of indigenous, authentic Ozarks culture.
