Silver Dollar City presents Half Dollar Holler, a new million-dollar play area for kids; the Showboat Branson Belle launches new shows ENCORE! and Funny Fiddles, plus new menus; and White Water presents the new river ride Aloha River at Hula Hula Bay, its biggest expansion ever – making the Silver Dollar City Attractions a destination to experience this year.
Silver Dollar City
Adventure rules at Silver Dollar City’s new Half Dollar Holler, an all-new super-sized play area for little explorers, with treetop fun houses and climbing nets, box crawls and slides, mini-wave swings and truckloads of sand for hands-on play. The centerpiece is a vintage classic with a new spin: Silver Dollar City’s hand-carved carousel returns in a brand-new way with whimsical woodland creatures to ride. This million dollar play area is a treetop wonderland designed for kids up to age 7, opening in spring 2011.
Seven signature Silver Dollar City events offer adventure in every season, including the new Mayorov Russian State Circus for World-Fest; the Flying Wallendas, new for KidsFest; and new Lumberjack shows and flying Birds of Prey for the National Harvest Festival. Plus, the top names in bluegrass and a barbecue feast are featured for Bluegrass & BBQ, Southern Gospel music fills the park for Southern Gospel Picnic, Moonlight Madness offers ride time into the night, and 4 million lights illuminate the park for one of the most acclaimed festivals, An Old Time Christmas. (Festival details follow.) The park features more than 30 rides and attractions, from high-flying roller coasters to a steam train, and a subterranean cave is open for daily exploration. The park presents talented craftsmen demonstrating daily, shows and home-style food, all at the 1880s-style theme park in Branson, open March 17 - December 30.
Showboat Branson Belle
Showboat Branson Belle launches into 2011 with ENCORE!, an all-new world-class production featured on evening cruises, and Funny Fiddles, an all-new show featured at noon, bringing three new headline acts to Branson, plus new menus, new staging and décor – making 2011 the biggest change year in the 700-seat paddle wheeler’s 15-year history.
Bringing her high-flying theatrics to the Showboat stage for Encore! is Janice Martin, the world’s only violin-playing aerialist, a world-class violinist, pianist and vocalist whose artistry has been heralded worldwide by The New York Times, Miami Herald and Washington Post. ENCORE! also features a new male vocal group, The ShowMen, six talented male vocalists who fill the stage with powerful harmonies and an amazing vocal range, performing music from Gershwin to the Beatles to the Black Eyed Peas. Returning favorite performers include comedian and magician Christopher James as master of ceremonies, and the Showboat’s signature live band. The all-new Funny Fiddles, featured on noon cruises, presents comedian and musician Chris Pendleton whose unique talent has been nationally showcased on Lifetime, Fox network and A&E, joined by fiddler and emcee Dean Church, along with the Showboat’s live band.
New menus from the Showboat’s chef include Beef Tenderloin in a Cabernet Sauce, Mediterranean Chicken Kabobs, Chicken Focaccia with Dijon Sauce, and the chef’s own Golden Brittle Lemon-Berry Torte, all prepared onboard in the ship’s galley. The Showboat Branson Belle cruises Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri, March 18 through Dec. 31.
White Water
White Water gets bigger, better and wetter in 2011 with an all-new, highly-themed tropical river adventure, Aloha River at Hula Hula Bay. A whole new area of the park is a setting of lush Polynesian jungles reminiscent of the South Pacific surrounding a river, where tube riders cast off and float, maneuvering the calm waters through the tropical greenery – yet meeting unexpected twists and turns, water features, fountains, misters, geysers and more. Along the way are new seating areas and cabanas for riverside relaxing. This 800-plus-foot river (longer than two football fields!) is the park’s longest, wettest, coolest ride yet, opening in late May.
White Water offers more than 12 acres of thrilling tropical adventures from mild to wild, including the 7-story, 6-slide thrill ride Kalani Towers. And by popular request, White Water presents Night Water, with rides open until 10 p.m., on select nights July 1 – Sept. 3. White Water is open May 21 – Sept. 5 at Branson’s Beach Within Reach.
