The Finalists LIVE! is an exciting new show featuring top finalists from some of your favorite television shows like American Idol® and America’s Got Talent® performing in person on the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre stage in Branson. Unlike the TV show, The Finalists Live! will let you see and hear the outstanding talents of these performers beyond anything you’ve seen them do before. The Finalist LIVE features three different casts during the summer, with each group performing in Branson for five weeks…This means you can experience 15 different performing artists over the Summer. Besides these great singers, The Finalists LIVE! will also feature Pete Peterkin, the 2009 Finalist on America’s Got Talent, as the host for all of our shows.
The first group includes Lee DeWyze, the 2009 Winner of American Idol, Blake Lewis, the Beat Box performer who was runner up in 2007, Elliott Yamin, who finished at the number three slot in 2006, Branson’s very own Kimberly Caldwell, from 2003 and host on the Oxygen and TV Guide Channels andeven Thia Megia from last year’s show. Welk Resort Theatre Presents "The Price is Right, Live!"
The Welk Resort Branson continues its legacy of providing legendary, live entertainment by announcing the 2012 season schedule of “The Price Is Right, Live!” the on-stage, audience-interactive version of the longest running game show in TV history.
Since 2006, “The Price is Right, Live!” has packed-in audiences around the country, including runs in Atlantic City and a permanent show in Las Vegas, providing all of the games, excitement and fun of “The Price is Right” television show. Starting July 2, 2012, Branson audiences can be a part of the live stage show: more than 50 audience members have a chance to win prizes like cash, appliances and even a new car, by playing the same games that made the television show such a success.
“The Price Is Right, Live! is produced by FremantleMedia, the producers of the CBS daytime television show, so the high quality production is the same: from the games, to the host, to the sets,” says Dathan Atchison, General Manager of The Welk Resort Branson. “We know that Branson audiences are going to experience something very exciting and special when they get a chance to participate in this fantastic show.”
The Price Is Right, Live! follows virtually the same format as the TV show: all audience members can pre-register to participate and are then called to "Come on down!" The contestant who wins the initial one-bid is then given a chance to win more prizes by playing one of the iconic and popular games such as Plinko, Cliffhangers, Punch-A-Bunch, and The Big Wheel to name just a few. And of course, contestants will get a chance to compete in the Showcase. More than 50 audience members will have a chance to receive prizes in the live show. “Just like the TV show, the live show is an interactive experience,” says Dathan Atchison. "The audience really has a chance to win some great prizes. It is a lot of fun to just be a part of the audience rooting the contestants on, and hoping your name gets called."
The Price Is Right, Live! schedule covers July through December 2012. Performance times are 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Box Office price for adults is $29.95 + tax and Children 17 and under are FREE! with paid adult. Tickets are available by phone at 800-505-9355 or online at WelkBranson.com.
Named World's Top Bluegrass Event, Silver Dollar City’s Bluegrass & BBQ Is Park's Biggest Ever Music Festival
With top accolades showing Silver Dollar City leading in the presentation of American bluegrass music, the Branson theme park is launching its biggest ever Bluegrass & BBQ festival, adding more days, more bands and more barbecue to the event, May 10 – June 3.
“Bluegrass is a uniquely American art form that has changed and evolved with what the audiences demand, creating crossover popularity that encompasses traditionalists and newer country audiences,” said festival manager D.A. Callaway, who visits bluegrass festivals all across America to find the best of both traditional and contemporary groups. “While much of today’s bluegrass doesn’t sound the same as grandpa’s fiddle-playing, the base is still there, and Nashville is selling more bluegrass-inspired records than ever before.”
The festival celebrates the all-American music genre, presenting more than 60 bands and hundreds of performances, featuring top artists and award-winning performers in bluegrass today, including Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, the Grascals, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and the Kruger Brothers. Plus, guests can see the top up-and-coming bands in bluegrass, such as the Gibson Brothers, Balsam Range, Little Roy & Lizzy and Jerry Butler and the Blu-J’s, and bluegrass comedy kings, The Cleverlys.
The festival highlights two national competitions featuring entrants from across the country. The 6th Annual National Single Mic Championship, May 19-20, highlights performance skills as each band gathers around a single microphone and balances their sound by moving toward or away from it, a technique revived by many of today's top bluegrass bands. The Youth In Bluegrass Band Competition, May 26-27, promotes and encourages amateur bluegrass musicians 21 years of age or younger as they compete for top honors and cash prizes.
Silver Dollar City, located near Branson, Missouri, is open daily during Bluegrass & BBQ, May 10 – June 3, except for Wednesdays May 15 & 22. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and Sunday, May 27). For information and performers’ schedules: 800-831-4FUN(386), or www.silverdollarcity.com.

Downtown Branson to Celebrate Town's Artisans -- and 100th Birthday -- at 52nd Annual Plumb Nellie Days
The 52nd Plumb Nellie Days Art & Craft Festival, May 17-19, 2012, will celebrate the home-spun and artistic side of Historic Downtown Branson.
Since 2012 is Branson’s Centennial, activities that were attractions during the first few years of Plumb Nellie Days will highlight the historical event, such as a Reuben Branson Look-Alike Contest. The city was named after Reuben Branson who was postmaster and store owner here in the 1880s.
The Plumb Nellie Days stage will host a notable line up of entertainers throughout the event, and a special booth where performers can meet and greet their fans. A very popular feature of Plumb Nellie Days is its Friday night street dance with a live band, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
The three day event is in downtown Branson on Commercial Street at the corners of Commercial and Main streets, an entire city block.
Few changes have been made since Plumb Nellie made its debut in April 1960. The event has grown to more than 100 artisans and crafters. Plumb Nellie Days also features a diverse food court, pony rides and a traditional sidewalk sale hosted by Downtown Branson merchants. More information is available at downtownbranson.org
Swim, Slide, and Splash into Summer at White Water
White Water, Mid-America’s Nearby Island Adventure, opens for the season May 26 with more than 13 acres of thrilling tropical adventures, including nearly 7,000 feet of slides, more than a dozen rides and attractions, and two million gallons of cool, water fun – plus an expanded night ride event.
White Water’s newest ride is Aloha River, a river ride 800-plus-feet long (longer than two football fields), holding 300,000 gallons of water - the park’s longest, wettest, coolest ride yet. Aloha River is in a setting of lush Polynesian jungles reminiscent of the South Pacific, known as Hula Hula Bay. Tube riders cast off and float while maneuvering the waters of Aloha River through the tropical greenery – meeting twists and turns, water features, fountains, misters, geysers and more.
White Water offers rides from mild to wild. The 7-story, 6-slide thrill ride, Kalani Towers is the wildest ride at White Water, with two 300-foot drop slides for free-fall body sliding and four additional 312-foot slides for lane racing. For additional excitement, guests can race to the water on the double speed slide Raging River Rapids, plunge through the darkness on the fast-paced fully-enclosed Bermuda Triangle, or speed down the fast and furious slide of Pipeline Plunge. Splashaway Cay, an interactive family attraction with slides, pumps, geysers and a 700-gallon tipping bucket, and the 500,000 gallon Surf’s Up Wave Pool, are fun for the whole family. Coconut Cove is a play area designed for smaller kids with slides, interactive sprays and shooting nozzles in a shallow pool of water.
By popular demand, White Water expands Night Water on select nights July 5 – August 11. From 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. guests can play all day and into the night, surfing the 500,000 gallon wave pool at dusk, floating Aloha River at Hula Hula Bay under the stars, or racing down the speed slides in the dark. During Night Water, the whole family can play the night away.
White Water is open daily May 26 – August 12, and on select days August 18 - September 3. For more information: call 800-831-4FUN(386) or visit www.bransonwhitewater.com.

The 52nd Annual Plumb Nellie Days
The 52nd Plumb Nellie Days Art & Craft Festival, May 17-19, 2012 will celebrate the home-spun and artistic side of Historic Downtown Branson.
The DBMA will announce more about the contest in February, but now is the time to start growing those beards men!
The Plumb Nellie Days stage will host a notable line up of entertainers throughout the event, plus a special booth where performers can meet and greet their fans.
The DBMA is a non-profit organization. Remembering our Fallen Ceremony
Saturday, June 2, 3:00 – 3:45PM
College of the Ozarks invites the public to attend a brief ceremony and reception to mark the opening of Missouri’s “Remembering Our Fallen” traveling memorial exhibit on Saturday, June 2, at 3 p.m. in The Keeter Center. Mr. Bryan Cizek, who served in both Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom as a U.S. Army Ranger, will provide brief remarks for the ceremony.
“Remembering Our Fallen," a 60-foot wall display featuring the names and pictures of 141 Missouri men and women, was created to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Locally SSG Ronald Blystone, PFC Jesse Givens, SPC Jessy Pollard and SPC Dylan Reid all of Springfield, SFC Robert Pharris of Seymour, SSG James Mowris of Aurora and PFC Matthew Wilson of Cape Fair are honored in the memorial display.
“The College is pleased to host the exhibit June 2-11, before it travels to St. Genevieve, Mo.,” said Elizabeth Hughes, College of the Ozarks public relations director. “It is truly more than an exhibit. It is a reminder of the price of freedom, and ensures that the individuals who paid that price remain in our hearts and minds.”
The display was designed so that it could travel easily to communities throughout the state for a week at a time. It made its first appearance on September 11, 2011, at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, and has made its way to several Missouri cities since.
The public may view the display at the College of the Ozarks Keeter Center June 2-11, anytime Monday-Sunday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. There is no cost to attend the ceremony on June 2 or view the display.
“The College greatly appreciates Branson Veterans Events and Reunions, Branson Bank and Branson-Hollister Lions Club for helping to bring the display to our community,” said Hughes.
One of the College’s fundamental goals is a Patriotic Goal—to encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country, and willingness to defend it.
For more information on the ceremony or display, please contact Public Relations at (417) 690-2212.
