Welk Resort Theatre announces Bob Goen as the host of the new “The Price is Right LIVE!”

The Welk Resort Branson is excited to announce the celebrity host of “The Price Is Right LIVE!”. Starting July 9, 2012 Bob Goen will host the live interactive version of the popular television show, Monday through Saturday at 8 pm

The decade-long co-host of television's syndicated hit "Entertainment Tonight," Bob Goen is among the best-known broadcast personalities in the world. For global audiences of hundreds of millions, he has been seen hosting the "Miss Universe," "Miss USA" and "Miss Teen USA" Pageants.

Goen joined "ET" as a correspondent and weekend anchor in July 1993, but shortly took over for John Tesh at the “ET” anchor desk where he remained beside the legendary Mary Hart until 2004. His disarming charisma and journalistic expertise made him the show's most accomplished interviewer, demanded by such icons as Jim Carrey, Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford.

After starting his career as a sportscaster in radio and television, Goen made the transition to his life-long dream ... game shows. Among other games, he hosted the daytime version of “Wheel of Fortune”, and then followed that up with the prime-time show, “The Hollywood Game”. Currently, Bob has been hosting both “Family Feud Live” and “The Price is Right Live” in Las Vegas and other locations. And now he joins the show in Branson, Mo.

Cheering Crowds Welcome Nik Wallenda Back to Silver Dollar City

Just days after his historic high-wire walk across Niagara Falls in the dark of night, aerialist Nik Wallenda was welcomed back to the Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson, Missouri with a cacophony of celebration. Costumed performers led a parade amid cheering fans, confetti and all-around American fun in a welcome back to the daredevil legend.

Having just days earlier opened his high-wire show at Silver Dollar City, a show that includes his wife, mother and other family members, Wallenda left for the Niagara Falls event with an attitude that whether a wire is 30 feet above the stage, or strung across the Falls, he must treat it with intense care. “I could get hurt just as easily on a wire here as walking over Niagara Falls – I never want to get complacent,” he said.

Wallenda performs in Branson through August 4th, marking his second summer in the southwest Missouri town known for live entertainment, and one that is already familiar with Wallendas’s first-ever stunts.  Last summer he performed acrobatics, including hanging by his teeth, 200 feet above the ground on a trapeze suspended from a helicopter over the park’s packed 4,000-seat amphitheater.

Silver Dollar City is open daily throughout KidsFest. More information is at 800-831-4FUN(386) or www.silverdollarcity.com.

Thurlow Spurr presents "A Festival of Praise"
Monday, July 2, 7:30 p.m.
It was announced today that three of the most recognized and popular Christian artists of all time will perform together in a two-day only concert tour this summer. Thurlow Spurr is hosting a mega musical tour featuring Sandi Patty, Larnelle, and Dino along with a 200 voice “all-star” choir for just two concerts. The venues are the 3000 seat Saint Louis Grace Church in Maryland Heights, Missouri on July 1, 2012 and the 2600 seat Tri-Lake Theater in Branson, Missouri on July 2, 2012. “Sandi, Larnelle and Dino have accumulated more Grammy and Dove awards, sold more records, performed in more live concerts and are more recognized and loved by a wider audience than any other contemporary Christian artists…these are the “Big 3!” says Spurr. He goes on to say, “From the moment the announcement was made people began to make plans to share this production. They are coming from long distances, having organized bus tours to share this unusual event. I have seldom seen a demand for tickets like this.” Sandi Patty is the most awarded female vocalist in Christian music history with forty Dove Awards. Her rendition of THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER sung at the rededication of the Statue of Liberty, A Capitol Fourth, the Pan American Games, The Indianapolis 500, ABC’s 4th of July Special and recently at the New Year’s Eve Celebration from Times Square is recognized as a masterpiece. Sandi’s singing partner, Larnelle has likewise garnered five Grammy Awards and dozens of other coveted Hall of Fame honors. He was the musical voice for the longest running Public Service Announcement in television. He has done concerts in the Kremlin and in leading venues in Israel, Finland, Korea, Japan, England, and Singapore, just to name a few. Billboard Magazine said about one of his recent albums, “another gem in the crown of one of Christian music’s true treasures.” Another reviewer declared, “Larnelle could sing the phone book and inspire you!” Larnelle and Sandi have recorded two huge musical classic hits together: MORE THAN WONDERFUL and I’VE JUST SEEN JESUS. On the tour, they will introduce a brand new duet entitled THEN CAME THE MORNING that debuted on a two-hour “made for television" special. The third member of this brief but very intense tour is Dino. He has been called “America’s Piano Showman.” He is seen by millions of people here in the USA as well as over 200 countries around the world on the weekly TV program called “The Dino Show.” For the last 12 years, Dino has headlined his own show in Branson Missouri. He is also a Grammy Award Winner with over 40 records to add to his credits. His music has been offered on QVC to the entire world. In constant demand, he has taken time out of his busy touring and television to share the stage with Sandi Patti, Larnelle and the All Star 200 voice CMI Concert Choir. Thurlow Spurr, creator, producer, director, and performer along with his wife Kathey who together have more live shows to their credits than anyone in Christian Music History are joined by St. Louis director, Bob Pickett in this “Festival of Praise.” Spurr recently released the following statement, “In more than a half century of bringing the finest Christian music to the world never have we been able to present a production like this one. No wonder tickets have been selling even before the official announcements have been made. To order tickets for July 1, 2012 in Saint Louis go to www.gracestl.org or call 314-292-8300 and for July 2, 2012 in Branson go to www.trilakescenter.com or call 417-336-0219.

Cinderella in Concert, with Sebastian Bach and Quiet Riot
Friday, July 20, 8 p.m.
CINDERELLA Hard rock icons Cinderella are back with the all original line-up of Tom Keifer (vocals, guitar), Eric Brittingham (bass), Jeff LaBar (guitar) and Fred Coury (drums). The band is gearing up for a Summer tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album Night Songs. The band will be tearing through a set spanning all four of their records including their biggest hits. Cinderella was formed in Philadelphia in 1982 by singer-songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. Cinderella got their big break when Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia and recommended that his A&R rep see them as well. In 1985, the band entered the studio with legendary producer Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin) to record their debut album "Night Songs". "Night Songs" was released in June 1986 and eventually achieved triple platinum status, selling 50,000 copies per week at one point. Cinderella's second album, Long Cold Winter, was released in 1988. It signified a shift towards a blues-rock sound, though it could still be described as glam metal. A 254-show tour to support the album lasted over 14 months and included dates on the Moscow Music Peace Festival alongside other metal acts, such as Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and Skid Row. The tour's stage show included Tom Keifer being lowered to the stage while playing a white piano during their radio hit "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)". Their third album, "Heartbreak Station", was released in 1990 followed by "Still Climbing" in 1994. The later two albums featured songs more influenced by Keifer's love of the blues. CINDERELLA has sold over 20 million albums to date worldwide. SEBASTIAN BACH Sebastian Bach is a Canadian heavy metal singer who achieved mainstream success as frontman of Skid Row from 1987 to 1996. Since his departure from Skid Row, he has had many television roles, acted within Broadway plays, and leads a successful solo career.  Skid Row initially formed in the late eighties with lead singer Matt Fallon. They began playing at various New Jersey clubs. Fallon would soon leave the band in 1987, leaving Skid Row without a singer. Bach was spotted singing at rock photographer Mark Weiss's wedding and the members asked him to join. He turned them down, but changed his mind after hearing the demo tapes of "Youth Gone Wild" and "18 and Life".  He sent them a demo of him singing "Saved By Love." They loved it and flew him to New Jersey where they began playing gigs. Sebastian also recorded demos with Bon Jovi & Sabo's friend Jack Ponti. (The song "She's on Top" later came out on Jack Ponti Presents Vol. 1) Bach's career ended with Skid Row after booking a show where Skid Row would have opened for KISS in 1996. Other band members told Bach that Skid Row was too big to be an opening act and that they weren't going to do the show. Bach then left a message on a bandmate's answering machine telling him that you're never too big to open up for KISS, and subsequently left the band. Ironically enough, four years later, Skid Row was one of the opening acts for the 2000 Kiss Farewell Tour sans Bach. Sebastian Bach has continued a succesful solo career both in metal and on Broadway, starring as the lead in Jekyll & Hyde, as Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as the host of VH1's Forever Wild, as Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, as the singer on the Frameshift album An Absence Of Emapthy, as a part of the Supergroup Damnocracy with Ted Nugent, Scott Ian, Evan Seinfield and Jason Bonham, as the supporting act for Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy Tour and as a solo artist. He is supporting his new album Kicking And Screaming on this tour. QUIET RIOT Quiet Riot is an American heavy metal band. They are best known for their hit singles "Metal Health" and "Cum On Feel the Noize". They were founded in 1973 by guitarist Randy Rhoads and bassist Kelly Garni, under the original name Mach 1, before changing the name to Little Women and finally Quiet Riot in May 1975. The original line-up featured Rhoads and lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow, Garni, and drummer Drew Forsyth. Their current lineup features longtime members drummer Frankie Banali, bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi. They recently added lead vocalist Scott Vokoun in March 2012. They are ranked at No. 100 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". On August 27, 1983, Quiet Riot's second single "Cum On Feel the Noize" was released. Their cover of the 1973 Slade hit spent two weeks at No. 5 on the Billboard chart in November 1983 and was the first heavy metal song to make the Top 5 on Billboard's "Hot 100 singles chart" (a.k.a. "Pop Chart"). The success of the single helped carry Metal Health to the top of Billboard pop album charts, making it the first American heavy metal debut album to ever reach No. 1 in the United States. It reached No. 1 on November 26, 1983, making Quiet Riot the first heavy metal band to have a top 5 hit and No. 1 album the same week, which was unheard of in 1983 for a heavy metal band. Their success was aided in no small part by the "Cum On Feel the Noize" video's heavy rotation on MTV. Metal Health paved the way for a new, stronger commercial viability for heavy metal. The album displaced The Police's hugely successful Synchronicity album from No. 1 and stayed there for just a week until Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down took over the No. 1 spot for three weeks before being surpassed by Michael Jackson's Thriller, which returned to the top after a long hiatus. Metal Health's title song, which was released as a single on March 11, 1983, finally charted in early 1984 and peaked at No. 31. This could be attributed to the song's appearance in the 1984 movie Footloose, as well as another heavy rotation video on MTV. It was No. 41 on the VH1's Top 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. The Metal Health album would ultimately sell over 6 million copies in the U.S. Quiet Riot has gone through several incarnations and suffered a difficult blow with the untimely death of longtime lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow in 2007. Despite his previous insistence that Quiet Riot could never return as a live performing entity, Frankie Banali announced a new version of Quiet Riot in September 2010.

The State Farm & Red Cross Disaster Services Open
Saturday, July 21
The State Farm & Red Cross Disaster Services Open is coming up on July 21, 2012 and will be held at the beautiful Payne Stewart Golf Club in Branson, MO. Last year the golf tournament met and exceeded a goal of $100,000 and we are excited that with your help we can make that goal a reality this year as well! Over the last 18 years area golfers in the tournament have raised over $1 million dollars for local disaster relief. Thank You! Without your help the Red Cross would not be able to continue its mission “To provide relief to victims of disasters and to help prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.” When you donate just $5.00 to the Red Cross you are able to provide a family with a comfort kit, which includes toiletries and personal hygiene materials, or send a phone card to a soldier who needs to contact his family back home. Your $10.00 will feed a person in our shelter three full meals, or your $25.00 donation feeds a family of four when disaster forces them to spend a night away from their home. As part of the fun there are great give away items, hole prizes and a raffle! For more details on the prizes and raffle items please visit our facebook page, American Red Cross, Southern Missouri Region and join the event! Register your team TODAY!! Easy online registration can be found at www.sfrco.org or contact the Red Cross at 1-866-206-0256 ext 109. We hope you will join us this year for the opportunity to play on a golf course new to the event and most importantly, ensure the disaster response and preparedness education of the American Red Cross will continue in our community for years to come. Together, we will make a difference! For additional information please contact Nigel Holderby: nigel.holderby@redcross.org About the American Red Cross: The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
