The American Society of Travel Agents recently asked its members what they thought “the most budget-friendly destinations for travel in the United States in 2009” were going to be. While Las Vegas and Orlando/Disney World were ranked first and second, Branson was their third choice. Now everyone knows what visitors to the “Live Music Show Capital of the World” have known for years – Branson is one of the best vacation values in the country.

Branson’s popularity as mid-America’s favorite destination, with its traditional American values and Ozark Mountain hospitality, continues to bring folks from all over. They come to see more than 100 shows featuring renowned entertainment, enjoy the many family attractions and relax in the naturally scenic surroundings. Add to that a shoppers’ paradise, some new and different musical fares, additions to those already popular attractions and an elegant European-style spa and you’ll find yourself in one of the best vacation destinations on earth.

In a new analysis of the DIRECTIONS Travel Performance/Monitor, among cities visited by couples the following were rated as providing the best value-for-the-money, according to D.K Shifflet and Associates, the leading U.S. consumer travel research company.

1. Charleston, SC
2. Williamsburg, VA
3. Asheville, NC
4. Nashville, TN
5. San Diego, CA
6. San Francisco, CA
7. Ocean City, MD
8. Myrtle Beach, SC
9. Branson, MO
10. Las Vegas, NV

"While Charleston comes out on top, a common thread among these cities that make the top 10 value list is their significant offering of free or nearly free cultural exhibits, galleries, walking tours, and reasonably priced romantic dining" noted Cheryl Schutz, DKSA's VP of Account Services. She further points out that "Flowers are nice for Valentine's Day, but a romantic getaway to one of these high value cities can generate a lasting memory and still be within a couple's budget."

Combining a high-energy live show, a three-course meal and a cruise on picturesque Table Rock Lake, the Showboat Branson Belle is a one-of-a-kind experience in America’s Heartland.  The 700-seat authentic paddlewheeler takes passengers back in time to celebrate the beauty and grandeur of the 1890s paddlewheel riverboats.  The cast of singers and dancers performs all-time favorites from Broadway to the Big Screen, along with Todd Oliver and his live talking dogs --- all setting sail March 20, 2009.

“The show Showstoppers! highlights some of the best music from the last six decades that has ‘stopped’ many a show,” said Jim Moeskau, Showboat Branson Belle General Manager.  “With a world-class orchestra and quartet of singers and dancers, you can’t get this experience anywhere else in Branson.”
Showstoppers! is featured on all lunch and dinner cruises.  Throughout the Broadway-style show, nearly 50 of the world’s most recognizable hits are performed from “Phantom of the Opera” to “Hairspray.”  Created, choreographed and arranged specifically for the Showboat Branson Belle, this show is unlike any other.
Evening cruises feature comedian and ventriloquist Todd Oliver and his cast of live talking dogs.  Todd and his troupe have been featured on such national TV shows as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and most recently The Today Show.  Lunch and Sunday cruises present the award-winning comedic magician, Christopher James.

The Showboat Branson Belle galley crew enhances the experience by preparing each of the 3-course meals onboard.  The dinner menu includes a main course of Admiral’s Choice Braised Beef in demi-glace sauce and Chicken Cordon Bleu.  Both lunch and dinner are served with a house salad and the Showboat’s own Lemon Raspberry Torte dessert.

The Paddle Wheel Club Room offers a more private dining area for small groups or couples for a special occasion.  With this premium dining experience, guests dine overlooking the ship’s paddlewheels and select from a dinner menu including grilled Mahi Mahi with shrimp, Captain’s special-cut rib-eye steak, Caribbean stuffed chicken and a choice of desserts.  After dinner, guests are seated in prime seats in the main dining room for the show.  Another option is the Captain’s Row where first row balcony guests enjoy the Showboat Branson Belle main dining room atmosphere while choosing from menu selections.

Cruises sail from March 20 through New Year's Eve. All cruises run approximately two hours and 15 minutes, and begin at noon, 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  For ticket information, schedules, complete menus and reservations, call 1-800-775-BOAT. Information and ticketing are also available at www.showboatbransonbelle.com.

Featuring Missouri wines and artisan cheeses; the Missouri Wine Festival is a two day celebration of the National and International recognition of wines produced in the state of Missouri. Exhibitors also include artisan cheese makers, chocolatiers, gourmet foods, and fine cigars for the aficionado. Live music will be performed all day, both days. Medals will be awarded by our panel of wine experts to the outstanding label in multiple varietals and there will be a juried, targeted art show sponsored by The Branson Arts Council. The days are filled with samples, seminars and demonstrations. Plus, each night at 7 p.m., there will be a gourmet dinner paired with a special wine selection for each course, prepared by The Chateau's own Head Chef, Doug Knopp, winner of Wine Spectator Magazine's "Award of Excellence". The first 1500 admitted will receive a tasting journal, to record your favorite labels and a collector tasting glass. Complete details of all the activities are available.
