Tim goes on to say, "Our song selection ranges from traditional Christmas carols to the fun songs of the season, so that there is something for everyone. Then, when you add the comedy of Stub Meadows and Hargus Marcel, we have a great holiday show for the entire family!"
Show time is 8:00 PM Monday - Saturday beginning November 1, 2008 and running through December 13, 2008. For tickets call 417-334-4528, or toll free 800-998-8908, or the website www.Baldknobbers.com. Another piece of the Titanic story - the small, wicker suitcase that once belonged to Millvina Dean—Titanic’s only living survivor, is on display through December 31 at the Titanic Museum Attraction, announces owner John Joslyn announced.
“This will be the world’s first look at an important piece of Titanic history, one that’s not been seen by the public for 96 years,” Joslyn confirms. “We feel privileged to be given this unique opportunity to honor Millvina Dean and her contributions to Titanic’s legacy and to showcase one of her most valued possessions—a small, memory-filled suitcase,” he says. “It tells the story of a nine-week-old baby girl and a 96-year-old disaster at sea. It’s the dramatic odyssey of a simple, everyday object that helped rebuild Millvina’s life in 1912, then again in 2008.”
On April 10, 1912, Millvina Dean boarded Titanic in third class with her parents and older brother. Her father, Bertram Dean, perished with the ship.
Tiny Millvina was lowered into a lifeboat and was rescued along with her mother and brother. Arriving in New York City with nothing but the clothes on their backs, they were soon greeted by charitable New Yorkers who gave them a small wicker suitcase filled with donated clothing to help rebuild their lives.
Ninety-six years later, on Saturday, October 18, 2008, this cherished keepsake was auctioned to raise money to help pay Millvina Dean’s nursing home fees. The $18,790 wining bid came from an anonymous Belfast businessman with an abiding interest in the Titanic. By special arrangement with its new owner, the Titanic Museum Attraction will display this rare artifact for two months. To express our thanks and appreciation of Millvina Dean, Titanic Branson will contribute to paying the costs of her care at the Woodland Ridge Nursing Home in Southampton, England.
When she heard her story and cherished suitcase would soon be shared with thousands of Titanic Museum Attraction visitors, Millvina said, “I hope you enjoy this display.”
