Branson’s Classic Country Shows

Here are four shows featuring classic country songs and tributes to famous country artists known for chart-topping hits

Country music has long been a staple of the Branson entertainment scene and while today’s audiences can choose from a variety of musical genres, it’s still easy to connect with those deep country roots.

Here are four shows featuring classic country songs and tributes to famous country artists known for chart-topping hits … and the occasional ditty about a cheating lover.

  • Hear country gold courtesy of Mickey Gilley at the Mickey Gilley Theatre, where songs such as “Room Full of Roses” and “Don’t the Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time” remind you why Gilley is a former Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. Gilley is one of the most-popular artists in country history, charting 17 No. 1 hits.
  • Travel down to “El Paso” during Leroy New’s Tribute to Marty Robbins and Classic Country Stars show at Little Opry Theatre at the Branson IMAX complex. With other hits to include “Devil Woman” and “Don’t Worry,” New’s tribute to Robbins is a crowd-pleaser for country fans. To top it off, the show features nods to performers such as Bob Wills, popular for his brand of Western swing music from the 1930s-60s, and Johnny Cash, whose hit songs such as “Ring of Fire” remain staples of country radio today.
  • Join some of country’s leading ladies with a trip to the Angels of Country Music at God and Country Theatre. Enjoy tunes made popular by amazing female artists such as Dolly Parton (“9-to5”) and Loretta Lynn, with a dash of Tonya Tucker (“Delta Dawn”) and Jeannie C. Riley (“Harper Valley PTA”) thrown in for good measure.
  • It’s been said that Conway Twitty was an artist who could sing the phone book and get it on the charts. Learn why that’s true with Conway Remembered at God and Country Theatre. Starring Mike Walker, the powerful set includes all-time classics such as “Hello Darlin’” and “Slow Hand.” You can dress casual, though “Tight Fittin’ Jeans” are optional.

These shows represent just a sampling of the opportunities you have to find solid country classics on stage in Branson. Many performers mix country standards into their repertoire, so you’re never too far from amazing country tunes.
