National Dance Finals Come to Downtown Branson

Downtown Branson is home to some high-energy events every year, and the annual Stage One National Dance Competition Finals is one of the largest. Held at the Branson Convention Center and the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel, the event brings hundreds of dancers and their families to Branson for the week long national championship.

Starting Monday, June 12, and continuing through Saturday, June 17, the event features primarily youth competitors. Each day, the exhibition hall opens at 7 a.m. and competitions go on throughout the day and evening. However, dancers and their families also have ample opportunities to get out and explore downtown, the Branson Landing and the many fun activities Branson has to offer.

Many of the dancers have competed in one of 17 regional competitions held throughout the country for the opportunity to travel to Branson for the nationals. Competition brackets include “petite” dancers ages 8 and younger, “junior” dancers ages 9-12, “teen” dancers ages 13-15 and “senior” dancers ages 16-19. There are even categories for adult dancers ages 20 and older.

Performers compete in a variety of performance categories, including acrobatic dance, ballet, tap, clogging, jazz, hip-hop, cheerleading and more. Dancers compete within their age bracket as solo performers, as a duet/trio, as a small group (4-9 performers), as a large group (10-18 performers) or as a line (more than 18 dancers).

Admission to the competition is free and open to the public.
