Six Ozark Mountain Christmas Must-Dos

Ozark Mountain Christmas is a magical time of year in Branson, Missouri. The town literally transforms into a holiday wonderland decorated top to bottom for the season. Here’s a list of six things to add to your must-do list to experience Ozark Mountain Christmas.

1.) An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City – One of the nation’s most acclaimed Christmas festivals is one that you do not want to miss. With a Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade featuring Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, two holiday music productions and a five-story special effects Christmas tree, there’s nothing better to get you in the holiday spirit. Adding to the spectacular display of 6 million Christmas lights in the park, the new Christmas in Midtown will feature 1.5 million more lights arranged in stunning scenes on buildings in the center of the theme park. You'll even witness a projection of angels flying overhead as you take in the largest Christmas light exhibit at Silver Dollar City yet.

2.) Christmas Shows – For many years, Branson shows create productions to showcase the cheer and goodwill of the Christmas season. With Christmas shows and special holiday guest appearances running in November and December, make sure you don’t miss seeing your favorites this holiday season.

3.) Christmas Parades – There are two holiday themed parades during Ozark Mountain Christmas. At the beginning of the season, make sure to catch the Most Wonderful Time of the Year Parade at the Branson Landing with live performances from Branson entertainers following the parade. Every year people gather in Downtown Branson for the lighting of the Adoration Scene on Mount Branson and enjoy the Adoration Parade immediately following.

4.)  Christmas light tours – Branson is home to several lighted drive-thru displays during the holidays. See Branson all aglow at the Branson’s Gift of Lights on a one-mile, drive-along path illuminated with more than 300 displays. Branson's Promised Land Zoo's Let There Be Lights! features dozens of LED displays, a living nativity scene and Santa's real reindeer team. Get a special glimpse at some of the zoo animals as you drive through the bright two-mile trail. Also, drive through the winding trails at the historic Shepherd of the Hills Homestead to see the Trail of Lights, a two-and-a-half mile drive-thru trail filled with twinkling Christmas lights.

5.) Holiday Shopping – It wouldn’t be the holiday season without a little Christmas shopping. Opportunities to pick up the perfect gift abound in the Branson area. Throughout the Branson/Lakes Area visitors can find outlet centers, shops and galleries focused on arts and crafts, as well as boutique and specialty stores offering themed experiences for collectors, gift buyers and bargain-hunters alike.

6.) Christmas Tree Trail - In Branson, the decor is just as magical as the holiday season. Christmas trees are decorated in grandeur and set up at locations all over the city, including thousands of trees at Silver Dollar City and the impressive 80-foot-tall tree at Branson Landing. Branson's Christmas trees make the perfect picture backdrop, so be sure to snap a few photos of your holiday moments and use #ExploreBranson to share your Christmas memories.
