October Events in Branson

Outdoor pools may be covered and it might be too cool for a dip in Table Rock Lake, but there are dozens of ways to have fun as Branson welcomes fall to the Missouri Ozarks.

Along with family-friendly attractions and countless dazzling live shows, Branson has dozens of special events throughout the season and leading up to the area’s traditional Ozark Mountain Christmas celebrations.

In October, that lineup of events features renowned festivals that bring thousands, such as the National Crafts and Cowboy Festival (multiple dates) at Silver Dollar City, and community activities that benefit local children, such as the Run Grand Country Half Marathon and 5K on Oct. 1.

Looking for other things to do in October? Well …

• Join the Tanger Outlets Fit for a Cure 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 1. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. Tanger Outlets also has special “Pinkstyle” savings throughout October – which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
• Go Behind the Scenes with the “Moses” show at Sight and Sound Theatres on Oct. 3, 4, 5 and 7. See and learn more about this popular production during these custom tours.
• See the Flames of Freedom Play throughout the month at College of the Ozarks. Staged Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturday, Oct. 14, the performance is based on the story of a C of O student who served in World War II.
• Savor Mount Pleasant Winery’s Wine Class, offered Wednesdays and Saturdays during October. Learn more about wine, winemaking and wine-and-food pairings during this fun and informative class for wine enthusiasts.
• Check out The 8th Annual Paint the Landing Pink Benefit on Oct. 7 at Branson Landing. Learn more about the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks while you shop the myriad stores along the Landing.
• Fish during the Cops for Kids Open Buddy Bass Tournament on Oct. 10 at Table Rock State Park Marina. More than a typical fishing tournament, the event is designed to provide outdoor experiences to children who face life-threatening illnesses and to those who improved access to dental care.
• Experience the outdoors at The Barrett Sovereign Sporting Clays Tournament on Oct. 21 at the Outdoor Academy at Big Cedar Lodge. Join world-class shooters at this competition, which includes lunch and dinner (pre-registration required).
• Reel in a keeper at The Fourth Annual Trout Tournament on Oct. 28 at Scotty’s Trout Dock and Marina. This fun fishing event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America and offers prizes for first, second and third place.

Of course, one of the main events for every October is Halloween, and the Hughes Brothers Theatre, Branson Landing and Tanger Outlets are among the places to celebrate the candy-coated holiday.

The Hughes Brothers celebrate “it” with their Howling Fun Halloween Show on Oct. 27, while Branson Landing and Tanger Outlets have special trick-or-treat activities on Oct. 31. See a show, shop and maybe take home some extra candy corn. It’s all good in Branson!
