Branson, MO – An exciting, family-friendly festival is coming to the Ozark Mountain region that celebrates America’s favorite pastime. In collaboration with area residents, business owners, and other community stakeholders, the Vintage Base Ball Association (VBBA) will be joining the Branson community to “preserve, perpetuate, and promote the game of base ball as it was played during its formative years in the nineteenth century and other historic eras.”

The Inaugural Legacy Days Vintage Base Ball Festival will be held on Friday, November 10 at Ballparks of America, and Saturday, November 11 thru Sunday, November 12 at Branson RecPlex. With over 200 vintage base ball clubs in existence today, the men’s VBBA teams from across America will travel to compete against local Branson men who have teamed up for fun, fellowship and a demonstration of the history of baseball dating back 160 years. Vintage base ball has become a favorite pastime of its own, with today’s teams competing in period reproduction uniforms and authentic equipment, and following 19th century base ball rules in order to accurately present the history of baseball to the public.

According to Jory Rolf, Executive Director of the Ozark Mountain Legacy, “Our mission is to pass on the Ozark Mountain Legacy by promoting those initiatives that honor our past to carry forward into our future. The Legacy Days Vintage Base Ball Festival is a way to not only pay tribute to the history of baseball, but to also open our doors to a new demographic of visitors and together become a representation of our community character here in the Ozarks.” A variety of area businesses and stakeholders share that vision for the formation and continuation of the annual festival to be held in the Ozarks, and have stepped up to become founding partners including: Silver Dollar City, The Titanic Museum, Summer Winds Resorts and Choose Branson, Hollywood Wax Museum, Ollis-Akers & Arney, Branson Visitor TV, Ballparks of America, and the City of Branson’s RecPlex. Host hotels include Angel Inns and Myer Hotel Properties.

The Legacy Days Vintage Base Ball Festival will kick off at the close of Veteran’s Week with the first exposition game to be held at Ballparks of America’s St. Louis Stadium at 5:30pm on Friday, November 10 located at 1000 Pat Nash Drive in Branson. Saturday and Sunday games will be held at the Branson RecPlex located at 1501 Branson Hills Parkway; game times are 4:00-9:00pm on Saturday November 11, and 10:00am-6:00pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

This is a FREE EVENT for all spectators, sportsmen, enthusiasts and sponsors to enjoy! There is still time to register as a sponsor, player, vendor, umpire, scorekeeper or volunteer for 2017 and 2018 festivals online at www.legacydays.org. The VBBA will be returning in 2018 with its regional tournaments September 21-23, 2018 at various locations throughout the region.
