Branson is Home to Holiday Excitement

Smile. The holidays are coming.

The family is pumped. It’s time to explore Branson, Missouri.

If you’ve never been to Branson during the holidays, you’re in for an amazing surprise. If you’ve visited during this special season before, it’s easy to figure out why this is part of your family's holiday.

Around here, it’s called Ozark Mountain Christmas, an ongoing tradition for more than a quarter century. Celebrations run from the beginning of November through New Year’s Day – there’s no waiting for Thanksgiving to kickoff the holidays here!

Of course, Branson offers countless opportunities for fun year-round, but here are seven ways to celebrate the magic of the holidays:

Live Shows: Branson is noted for its live shows and performers. It’s not called the Live Music Show Capital of the World for nothing! Scroll down to check out this amazing lineup of special performances and themed shows that celebrate the season.

Christmas Lights: Light displays in Branson were popular long before Clark W. Griswold lit up his neighborhood in “Christmas Vacation.” The Branson Area Festival of Lights is a drive-through dream, featuring more than 175 displays on a mile-long route.

Silver Dollar City: Experience the wonder of Silver Dollar City, where 5 million lights – yes, 5 million! – create an eye-popping experience sure to delight the kids and the kid in everyone. Two live shows, 1,000 decorated Christmas trees, a five-story special effects Christmas tree and the new Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade are part of the park’s amazing holiday lineup.

Shopping: If you need to take care of some holiday business in Branson – that’s insider lingo for “shopping” – you won’t be disappointed. Speciality shops, outlet malls and unique-to-Branson experiences await, just be sure to bring your full shopping list. Explore the shops here.

Special Events: The holidays in Branson wouldn’t be complete without several special events . Among them is the annual Veterans Homecoming Week, one of the largest events of its type in the U.S. Another not-to-be-missed event is the annual Adoration Celebration, which is in its 66th year and celebrates the true meaning of the holidays. The event includes the lighting of the Adoration Scene (displayed on Mt. Branson) and a parade. Scroll down for the complete list of Ozark Mountain Christmas events.
