Enjoy Time on the Water
By late May, water temperatures are in the upper 60s, and warm, sunny days spell perfect lake weather. Branson’s three premier lakes (Table Rock, Taneycomo, and Bull Shoals) are surrounded by the Ozarks and offer easy access to a wide range of recreational opportunities: swimming, water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, boating, sailing, scuba diving, Jet Skiing, parasailing, kayaking, fishing, and more.
If you prefer to be near the water rather than on it, discover beautiful overlooks and nearby walking, hiking, biking, picnic spots, and dining. Memorial Day weekend launches full operations for area marinas, and they’ll be bustling; make plans early. Learn more about each lake and Branson fishing here.
Cool Off at a Water Park
Getting out on the lake isn’t the only way to have fun in the water. It’s also opening weekend for Silver Dollar City’s White Water, a 13-acre water park with a tropical oasis vibe. There are rides, slides, and waves for thrill seekers, little ones, and the whole family. With it being one of their busiest weekends, consider renting a cabana or purchasing reserved seating when you buy tickets online in advance. If you don’t secure seating, you’ll want to arrive at least 30 minutes before opening.
Grand Country Resort & Waterpark opens its Splash Country Indoor & Outdoor Waterpark to the public in addition to overnight guests. Much of the park is indoor and climate-controlled, making it available year-round — perfect for rainy or cool weather days. It offers water slides, raft rides, a wave pool, a lazy river, a basketball activity pool, a toddler play area, plus plenty of extra ways to splash and play. It’ll also be crowded on the holiday weekend; go on a weekday or get in line when doors open to make sure you grab a space for your crew.

Live Entertainment & Seasonal Shows

Branson’s theater season kicks off in March, and by Memorial Day, the schedule will be full of more than 100 live shows to choose from: illusion and magic, comedy, variety, nearly every genre of music, our legendary dinner shows, shows for kids, and even performances on a cruising paddle wheeler.
No matter what time of year you're visiting, just about any live performance in Branson has a patriotic element; it’s simply part of our DNA . The region’s entertainers have a long tradition of paying homage to those who’ve served, and it’s not uncommon for rousing ovations to occur when veterans are recognized as patriotic songs echo through the venues.
Practical Tips for a Smooth Weekend

These practical tips can improve your chances of a hassle-free vacation when visiting Branson for Memorial Day.
Plan for crowds and busy roadways: Arrive earlier than Friday afternoon and wait to depart the city until Tuesday to avoid the heaviest traffic congestion getting in and out of the city. Throughout your stay, give yourself plenty of time to drive and park at events and ticketed activities. Take advantage of Sparky the Free Downtown Trolley when visiting Historic Downtown and Branson Landing. If you’ve got tickets to Silver Dollar City, plan to arrive right when the gates open to get a jump start on the day’s crowds.
Make reservations: Secure them as early as possible.
- Accommodations: Branson’s diverse lodging options include more than 16,500 units in four-star resorts, national-brand hotels, independent inns, nightly rental cabins, condos, and more. They fill fast for Memorial Day weekend, so book far ahead for choice rooms and prime lakefront views.
- Shows, attractions, and activities: Plan now for the best seat selection and to ensure the live shows you want to see are not sold out. The same goes for other events, tours, attraction tickets, fishing guides, and boat rentals at area marinas.
- Dining: If the restaurant you’re craving takes reservations, make one. Walk-ins should expect longer-than-usual waits, though eating at off-peak times can help.
