Calling all motorcycle enthusiasts! This ride from Eureka Springs to Branson is all about winding Ozark roads, sweeping scenery and beautiful lake views. Leave the historic mountain town of Eureka Springs behind, follow Highway 23 into Missouri and pick up Highway 86 for a scenic ride through the Ozarks before approaching Branson from the south.
Start in Eureka Springs
Before firing up the bike, spend some time exploring Eureka Springs, one of the Ozarks' favorite motorcycle destinations. The town is surrounded by winding roads and scenic routes that have made the area a favorite among riders.
Grab breakfast and coffee downtown, wander through the historic district or browse the town's eclectic shops before hitting the road. Then leave Eureka Springs on Highway 23 and get ready for a ride filled with curves, hills and beautiful Ozark scenery.
Hit the Curves on Highway 23
As you leave Eureka Springs, Highway 23 carries you north through the Arkansas Ozarks before connecting with the route toward Missouri. This is where the ride really begins to feel like an adventure. Rather than rushing through this stretch, take your time and enjoy the curves, wooded hills and changing scenery.
For motorcycle riders, the road itself is the attraction. Find a safe place to pull over for a photo or scenic break, then continue toward Missouri and Highway 86.
Slow Down Along Highway 86
While Highway 86 is known for its winding curves and scenic Ozark views, don't be too quick to cruise straight through. The road passes several small-town shops, mercantiles, antique stores and locally owned eateries that make fun roadside discoveries along the way. In the Lampe area, stop at White Lightning Restaurant for a casual lunch or check out the shops and country stores scattered throughout the lake community. At Dogwood Canyon, which we'll talk about next, the Mill & Canyon Grill offers a scenic place to grab a meal if you're making a longer stop at the park.
As you continue toward Blue Eye, keep an eye out for places like 86 Vintage Mercantile, a vintage and gift shop located right along Highway 86, or make a treasure-hunting stop at nearby antique and resale shops. If you're ready for a hearty meal, The Hop Diner offers classic American fare right along the highway. These little roadside stops are part of what makes this stretch of the Ozarks fun to explore. You never know when you'll find an antique treasure, a quirky gift or a local favorite worth adding to your road-trip memories.
Want to Spend More Time at Dogwood Canyon?
If you have extra time, make a stop at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park in Lampe. Located directly on Highway 86, the 10,000-acre nature preserve features towering limestone bluffs, waterfalls, clear streams, wildlife and miles of trails. Visitors can hike, bike, fish, ride horses or take a guided tram tour through the canyon.
Dogwood Canyon is best treated as an optional extended stop, rather than something you need to squeeze into the ride. With so much to explore, you could easily spend several hours here. If you're mainly interested in the motorcycle ride, continue along Highway 86 and save Dogwood Canyon for another trip.
Continue Through Blue Eye
After Highway 86 carries you past Dogwood Canyon, continue toward Blue Eye as the landscape gradually transitions into the Branson area. Blue Eye works best as a waypoint rather than a major destination, but there are a couple places we still encourage you to stop at. If you're craving Mexican for lunch, Las Casitas is located inside Morningside USA, where live tapings of The Jim Bakker Show take place. Another hidden gem is the Homestead Market, a micro-bakery that sells sourdough bread and sourdough baked goods including cookies and cinnamon rolls. Check out their seasonal treats, which may include flavored lemonades or sourdough pumpkin pie!
From here, keep following the road toward Table Rock Lake and the communities just south of Branson.
Ride Through the Big Cedar Area
As you get closer to Branson, you'll enter the Ridgedale area, home to Big Cedar Lodge and Top of the Rock. This is where the Ozark scenery really makes a final impression before you reach Branson.
Big Cedar Lodge's property is free to drive through, which you really must if you want to see the most scenic view of Table Rock Lake. They are also home to Fun Mountain, a family entertainment center open to public, as well as a free outdoor mini golf course and restaurants.
Next door, Top of the Rock sits high above the surrounding Ozark landscape with sweeping views of the mountains and Table Rock Lake. If you have time, stop to take in the scenery, explore the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum or experience the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail. Top of the Rock also offers restaurants, shopping and other attractions, making it an easy place to turn a quick scenic stop into a longer adventure.
Even if you don't stop, the approach through this part of the Ozarks makes for a beautiful final stretch before arriving in Branson.
Finish the Ride in Branson
The final miles bring you into Branson, where you can trade the scenic winding roads for an evening of live entertainment, great food and even more Ozark adventures.
Catch a live show, explore Historic Downtown or Branson Landing, enjoy dinner overlooking the water or simply park and catch a sunset by the lake.
