Local Branson Band Writes and Records National Campaign Song

For more than 50 years, Branson has been known for its live music shows and was officially proclaimed by the Governor of Missouri as the “Live Entertainment Capital of Missouri.” It’s only fitting that in 2025, a call for talent would be shared, local Branson artists would submit their work, and a winner would be chosen to write and perform Branson’s new campaign song. The Petersens were among the many who answered that call—and they answered in a big way. Here’s a little more about the process.
 

Inviting visitors from across the country and around the world to experience a destination that is unique in its landscape and history—as well as its music and performance culture—is no easy task. Pretty pictures and flashy videos only go so far before you, the reader and potential visitor, ask, “What’s so special about Branson?” In response, we've decided that telling the story through music just makes more sense.
 

When the Explore Branson team looked at all the things that make the Branson/Lakes Area unique, it was about more than the beautiful fall landscapes, the spray from the fountains at the Landing, or the thrill of a roller coaster at Silver Dollar City—it was about the local talent in Branson, with songs to be strummed and lyrics to be sung.
 

One of those talented groups is The Petersens, a family band performing American roots music that brings people closer together. Made up of four kids, their parents, and an honorary family member, they submitted their work to be considered as the voice of the new song for Explore Branson. The process took months—issuing the call for talent, listening to submissions, meeting and reviewing while keeping in mind all the potential visitors who might be wondering what Branson is really about. Then, we arranged calendars to fit the schedule of a busy performing family, finding time to film, record, and capture all the moments of creating what will become Branson’s incredible theme song for the next three years, “Where My Heart Sings.”
 

The Petersens represent the authentic talent, inspired creativity, and distinct values of not only the destination itself but also of what so many in the world today are searching for. With a blend of violin, banjo, mandolin, and guitar, they have composed a heartfelt ode to the sights, sounds, tastes, and feelings of the city.
