Hiking at Busiek State Forest

Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area comprises 2,500 acres just north of Saddlebrooke in Christian County. U.S. Highway 65 bisects the state forest, and the two trailheads can be accessed easily from the highway.

Busiek State Forest Trail Systems

The Branson area has numerous hiking trails, but Busiek is one of the few areas that allows overnight camping (by permit only, available through the Springfield office of the Missouri Dept. of Conservation). The two trail systems extend more than 18 miles through some of the most beautiful and rugged areas of the upper Ozarks.

The White River Valley Trail Systems hosts four loops, each varying in length, scenery, difficulty and terrain. This trail system is not for the weak, as elevation ranges from 710 feet to nearly 1,200 feet above sea level. Throughout your adventure, you will see the terrain and scenery change drastically from moist and low to dry and high. Beautiful sights of Table Rock Lake, stunning tree species, old roads, small waterfalls and an abandoned farmstead are waiting for you along the way.
