Boots on the Ground Approach for Branson Veterans Fair

BRANSON, MO (JAN 8, 2021) - Now more than ever before, outreach organizations are needed during a pandemic for our deserving veterans. In Branson, the Department of Missouri – Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is organizing the first VFW Resource Fair for veterans and their families. This is in conjunction with a community drive-thru food drive, informational dinner meeting and homeless outreach.

The Resource Fair will take place January 20 and 21 at Radisson Hotel Branson, 120 Wildwood Drive South from 10am to 4pm. VFW service officers will be present to help veterans free of charge file for VA benefits. Service officers will answer questions about claims, help with updating claims, and will review a claim before it is filed. Veterans do not have to be a VFW member to use a VFW service officer for VA benefit filings during this VFW Resource Fair.

During the benefit fair, January 20 and 21 from 10am to 4pm, the VFW will team up the Branson-Hollister Rotary Club for a drive-thru food drive for families in need in the Branson area. All donations will be given to Christian Action Ministries (CAM). Public donations are accepted at the Radisson Hotel. People wishing to donate to the food drive may pull in front of the hotel and a Rotary member will unload the donations to reduce direct contact and exposure.

The VFW Resource Fair will close out with an informational dinner meeting regarding how to form a new VFW Post in the Branson area. That meal will take place on the final day of the benefit fair, Thursday, January 21 at 6pm at the Radisson Hotel. To attend you will need to pick up a meal voucher during the benefit fair, which will cover yourself and a guest. Establishing a VFW Post in Branson will allow for so much more needed outreach to veterans and their families.

The VFW and Rotary will team up with Camp Gumi while in town to do Homeless Outreach. During this outreach VFW and Rotary members will deliver tents, sleeping bags, gloves, hats and other supplies to the homeless community in the Branson area.

Note: Covid Safety Protocols are strictly enacted, and all members will be practicing social distancing during this event. Masks must be worn inside the Radisson Hotel. Hand sanitation stations will be provided.
