Guardians of the Guardians: The Mission of Project K9 Hero

Project K9 Hero and its founder, Jason Johnson, stand as true heroes in their own right—champions for the four-legged heroes who once protected our communities and our country. Their impact has reached far beyond local borders, creating a global wave of awareness and compassion for retired Police and Military Working Dogs.

Jason’s mission began with a simple but powerful belief: that the dogs who dedicate their lives to service deserve the highest level of care when their working days are done. Through Project K9 Hero, he ensures these retired K-9s receive the medical care, prescription food, rehabilitation, rehoming, and end-of-duty support they need to live their remaining years with dignity and comfort.

At the heart of this mission lies a remarkable place—a 177-acre Rehabilitation and Rehoming Facility designed specifically for canines recovering from PTSD and other service-related conditions. Here, dogs who once faced danger side by side with their handlers finally have the chance to rest, heal, and simply be loved.

For years, Jason has served as the unwavering voice for these often-forgotten heroes, advocating for their needs and ensuring they are never left behind. Through his leadership, countless service dogs have been given not just care, but a renewed sense of safety and belonging in their retirement.
